Nightingales is a 1960s housing estate of around 500 houses, designed to a Radburn layout. In 2005 we undertook an extensive survey of resident opinion, to identify the various ways in which the design of the estate fails to perform adequately, and to agree with residents on a plan of action to improve it. The report documenting this plan was produced in January 2006, and we have since prepared detailed proposals for the first phase of the improvements.
